If any of the items that you are talking about were actually made in France they would be exorbitantly over priced even worse then they are now! You would not believe how many things are made in China and stamped France just because they are assembled in France!
I happen to represent a line from France and it is made in France but it is a very high end item with the quality that matches.
Most of the factories in China make items for both high end and low end items, they just label them different! Some of the time they are identical. Americans are "label" junkies and will pay for a designers name no matter what the item is or how bad it is made. You are better off paying money for quality rather then names.
Make up it a big offender of designer rip offs, most of make up is made in the same factories!
Don't get me wrong, there are many good items that come out of China and the reason that they chose to make them there is the cost, if they were made here they would be too expensive for the average consumer.
Luxury is all relative, do you pay for some designers name (and usually they have nothing to do with many of their labeled items, they sell their name) or do you pay for a quality item that has a unknown name?
Fakes, copies and knock offs also keep the prices high on luxury items and they are made in China? So, it is China who is making all the money!!! |
