jewelery? Thanks everyone, I think I get the picture, I'll be choosing my best answer ASAP after the 24 hours. BTW, I can help but notice your beautiful complexion emorningstar. Not trying to hook up with you, I just admire it.

To show off to other people that they can buy the stuff. Also because the people who buy this jewelery have so much money, they don't know what to do with it.

You put this in the right category, society. There is technically no direct use for expensive things, other than to satisfy the wearer with beauty and high-class-ness, and to look good to others. They are used as society/status symbols. INDIRECTLY, however, you may get noticed or impress someone, and gain a job or position over someone else because of this. Sad but true.

When you have money, you don't ask questions like that.

I don't believe that it really has a "good" purpose, other than personal expression and feeling good about oneself, adorning yourself and projecting who you are, or who you THINK you are to society. As our entire world moves towards a more spiritual society you'll see things like owning expensive useless things be regarded more and more as ego-based and trite.

I don't have any jewelry because I don't like wearing it and I don't like having things just for the sake of having them. Some people think it is a good investment and portable in times of disaster and war. The figure if they can hang on to it, they can sell it and start over again.

It serves no purpose except for show. I would rather spend my money on my kids and grandkids.

jewelry is a good investment. If u run out cash u can sell it or you can pawn it. Its very seldom that jewelries price depreciate but with other expensive things whose value depriciate from the moment you bought it, i dont see the point either for buying it, maybe to show off???
