Police try to *avoid* high speed chases, as they are dangerous to all concerned. However: if they have to be involved in such, it makes sense to be equipped with reasonably fast, heavy, cheaper automobiles than a Lambo-- 'cause chances are good that one or more cars will be damaged during a chase.

i don't know of any police departments that own lamborghinis (except one in italy b/c lamborghini gave them it). this is obviously because they are too expensive to buy and maintain.

Because A police cruser has alot more under the hoot then you think. Alot of your police crusers are built for speed. The new police cruses are 4.6 litter interceptor engines. In fact some Highway patrol cars are still the old mustang LX's with 5.0 litter interceptor engine. All police cars have what is called a Interceptor Engine. Infact I have a Old 1988 mustang GT has a 302 Interceptor Engine in it. I got that car up to 140 MPH and was still excellerating. The mustang property built will go 210 to 220 MPH at 6,000 RPM in 5th Gear provided there is enought highway. So there really is no need for Lamborghini Police car. Some Police departments have gone as far as taken Cars that have been used in illegal street races and converting them in to police crusers. This happened in NY a few years back. I would hate to say a lamborghini has no chance against a mustang thats been modified on a properly built engine with a supercharger or Nitros. you lambo is about 510 HP. my mustang stock is 220 HP. I add a supercharger to that on a properly build block I can build a engine that will have 720 HP or 800 HP easly.

Now what would I want to go by a lamborghini when I can mod a mustang block for $10,000 and stiffen up the rest of the car for anoughter $5,000. for a total of 15,000 in total. More then enought horsepower to catch a lambo. The cost of buying a lambo would not be jestified. When it cost over 120,000 for a Lambo. and I can build something better for 15,000. which would you choose. I would think the mustang with the mod engine.

I dont know where you live, but around here the cops don't have Lamborghini's.And if they did, I'd be in trouble.

Yeah a lambo is a luxury car, that means you're paying for the name, it's look, and various knobs and whistles, which haven't necessarily got a lot to do with the cars *actual* performance.
As a previous poster said if all you want is the performance then you'd be better off starting with a less flashy car, that has some grunt under the hood, and modifying it.
