Default Is it better to mix 87 octane with 92

instead of straight up 92 for a lexus car? i want to save money

You can use whatever octane you want assuming that you don't mind the performance difference, and that your engine ECU (Engine Control Unit) can retard the timing to avoid detonation. If you use a lower octane and experience detonation (knock) you will need to go back to the higher octane. If older engines experience compression loss they are more likely to detonate on lower octane fuels. Detonation sounds like metallic pinging.Summary: if your engine doesn't detonate/knock, use whatever fuel octane you like.
