Default Why did Apple computers failed against Micosoft?

In the early days of windows or in a pre-windows scenario everybody thought MAC is the future, but it did not last long. MS captured the market. Besides sticking into only one architecture(PowerPC) does Apple has any other reason to loose the market?

It wasn't the architecture. Microsoft also only sticks to one.

Simple answer: Bad distribution & high cost.

They are still the innovator and Microsoft/Wintel is the imitator. But the imitation has become better.
