It is probably gallons per mile. Not the other way around.

About 50 feet per gallon, or about 121.5 gallons per nautical mile, or 105.6 gallons per statute mile at the normal cruising speed of 28.5 kts.

It runs on bunker crude which has the consistancy of tar at room temperature and must be heated to 140 C for injection into the cylinders of the nine 9-cyl diesel engines.

They run mostly on IFO 180 which is an intermediate fuel.
The reason for that they are using medium speed diesels engines and they cant run on real heavy. Gas milage is measured in grams/horsepower/hour. I would estimate 25 tons of fuel per day.
